On September 6^th,?68 graduate students of the 2024 class became new members of the Eighth Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University.

On September 7^th, Party Secretary Lin Weiting went to the East Campus of Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou to give a lecture on the "First Lesson of the New Semester" to freshmen. The lecture guides the students to clarify their life goals, strengthen their ideals and beliefs, and enhance their sense of mission and responsibility.

Secretary Lin Weiting said that it is imperative to thoroughly study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important thoughts on youth work, keep in mind his aspirations and requirements for the younger generation to grow up healthily and make contributions, integrate life ideals into the cause of the country and the nation, and demonstrate a confident, self-reliant, vigorous and enterprising spirit on the new journey of the new era.

Lin Weiting affectionately retrospected the century-long development history of Sun Yat-sen University from three perspectives: the red genes in our bloodline, the university cultural heritage, and the hospital culture construction. He comprehensively explained the profound connotations behind cultural carriers such as the university motto, graduation exhortations, school song, and school emblem. He sorted out the evolution history of Sun Yat-sen Medical College and proposed that the Eighth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University has always adhered to the party leadership while pursuing a high-quality and connotative development pathway. Our hospital strives to build a first-class university-affiliated hospital culture that embodies university genes, Special Economic Zone spirit, and the unique characteristics of the Eighth Affiliated Hospital.

Secretary Lin Weiting requested that all freshmen clarify their value pursuits, upgrade their mindsets, and change their behavioral patterns in accordance with the development of the University and the Hospital. He encouraged them to write a new chapter of their youth by climbing the peaks of medicine and shining in the inheritance of the century-long medical tradition.

Since early August, the Graduate Dept has been actively preparing for the 2024 graduate student orientation. To guarantee a smooth new-semester registration process, orientation teachers maintain close communication with the new students and collaborate with all departments of the university to promptly address various freshmen issues.

In order to create a clean, safe, and cozy living environment for our students and to ensure their needs are met, the Graduate Dept has also organized teachers to thoroughly inspect dormitory furniture and facilities, sanitary conditions, and potential safety hazards at the East Campus.

New student materials were collected in advance by orientation teachers and volunteers for sorting and repackaging. On the day of enrollment, information verification, online registration, document submission, and material collection were completed in one stop, making the freshmen’ admissions "silky smooth".
