Founded in 1992, the Department of Pediatrics at the Eighth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University is a discipline that integrates clinical treatment, scientific research, and teaching. It is the chairman unit of the Translational Medicine Committee of the Neonatologists Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association. Currently, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is an independent division of the pediatric department. Our department has the most advanced medical equipment and facilities in China. We are one of the chief editor units participating in “Neonatal Critical Care Treatment Techniques.” There are 10 doctors in this department: 1 professor, 2 associate professors, 2 attending doctors, 4 residents, and 1 full-time research staff. Our department specializes in the treatment of very low birth weight infants, critically ill newborns, severe hemolytic diseases, and sepsis, as well as neonatal nutrition support.
