The Department of Dermatology at the Eighth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University is recognized as a key medical specialty in Futian District, with a team of 30 medical, nursing, technical, and other personnel. Among them, there are 18 physicians, 8 nursing staff, 1 medical technician, 2 full-time researchers, and 1 physician in training. The team includes 3 with senior titles, 2 with deputy senior titles, 8 with intermediate titles, and 13 with junior titles. The department boasts a high level of education, high professional and technical qualifications, and a reasonable age structure. There are currently 10 specialized beds for the treatment of complex and severe skin diseases.

Currently, the department encompasses 14 specialized clinics, addressing a broad spectrum of dermatological issues such as atopic dermatitis and eczema, psoriasis, alopecia and hair-related disorders, nail diseases, sexually transmitted infections, acne, laser therapy, skin aesthetics, barrier and scar repair, skin tumors, autoimmune blistering diseases, urticaria, and both complex and infectious skin diseases.

Our department is at the forefront of dermatological technology, equipped with state-of-the-art devices including electronic dermoscope, red and blue light therapy machines, liquid nitrogen cryotherapy guns, super pulse carbon dioxide lasers, and full-body narrow-spectrum ultraviolet cabins and so on. We specialize in procedures like superficial fungal examinations, non-invasive skin disease diagnostics, blood antibody testing for autoimmune blistering diseases, Wood's lamp examinations, red and blue light therapies, photodynamic therapy for acne and rosacea, precise cryotherapy, and carbon dioxide laser treatments for a variety of skin lesions. We have also introduced cutting-edge equipment such as the U.S. Profile dot matrix laser super platform, Korean Q-switched 532 and 1064 nm lasers, Ella photodynamic therapy machines, intense pulsed light therapy devices, and the U.S. Candela dual-wavelength alexandrite laser for painless permanent hair removal, as well as the 308-nanometer excimer light therapy device. We are pioneers in the city for offering Ella photodynamic therapy and PRP (platelet-rich plasma) treatments for skin ulcers and acne scars.

Our department has undertaken several scientific research projects and corresponding studies, with numerous publications in SCI-indexed and core journals. Equipped with an array of advanced instruments, our department is a comprehensive leader in implementing new clinical technologies in dermatology and venereology within the city.
