The Department of Gastroenterology at the Eighth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University is a key clinical specialty in Futian, Shenzhen. Currently, there are 14 doctors in the department, including 1 doctorial supervisor and 1 master supervisor. Among them, 3 are senior doctors, along with 15 nurses. The doctors specialize in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of digestive tract and liver disorders. The department focuses on diagnosing and treating the above diseases using gastrointestinal endoscopic techniques, gastrointestinal dynamics function testing, 24-hour esophageal acid and impedance measurement.
The department specializes in basic research and clinical diagnosis and treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The leader of the department, Prof. Jin Li, has diagnosed and treated more than 5,000 cases of IBD, with over 1,000 IBD patients followed up stably for a long period of time. A standardized monitoring and follow-up procedure has been established. The department has a significant influence in Shenzhen and Guangdong Province, contributing to early diagnosis and precise targeted treatment of inflammatory bowel disease, nutritional diagnosis and treatment, and mental and psychological interventions, among others. A multidisciplinary collaborative diagnosis and treatment (MDT) group has been set up to provide comprehensive care for patients with IBD.
Gastrointestinal dynamics disorder is a common disease. For patients suspected of having gastrointestinal dyskinesia, gastrointestinal dynamics tests carried out in our department include esophageal manometry, 24-hour esophageal acid and impedance measurement, and anorectal manometry. Patients with constipation can receive biofeedback therapy in our department.?
